Airlines and Aviation (Commonwealth Union)_The “Singapore Air Show” started yesterday. The biennial event which is one of the largest shows in the aeronautical and aviation sectors in all of Asia will be held from Tuesday 20th to Sunday 25th February, where a large exhibition area of the fair has been dedicated to business aircraft manufacturers.
Aerial displays of aerobatic teams are scheduled as per tradition. Also on display are commercial and military aircraft, drones, helicopters as well as the latest technologies. Activities have also been planned for young people and families, along with debates with experts.
Among the most anticipated issues to be debated is the recovery in demand for travel in Asia by passengers, dealing with macroeconomic obstacles linked to the internal crisis in the Chinese market and geopolitical tensions along with a decline in the supply of flights.
The “Singapore Air Show” will also be an opportunity for the first trip abroad of the Chinese C-919 passenger plane produced by the Comac company (Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China), an aircraft designed to challenge the giants Boeing and Airbus on two among the best-selling models in the world: the A-320 and the B-737 MAX. Furthermore, unlike the European manufacturer, the American one will not display any aircraft.

Anticipation is growing for the return of the biennial international “Singapore Airshow”, one of the most important events in Asia in the aviation and defense sectors. The fair will be held at the Changi Exhibition Center in Singapore. Several new features and absolute previews of airplanes, Electric Vertical Take-Off and Landing (eVtol) aircraft, helicopters and technologies in the defense sector.
In particular, the US company Gulfstream Aerospace has announced that its new G-700 plane will make its debut at the “Singapore Airshow”. This is the latest aircraft model specifically designed for the Business Aviation market segment, being business travel. It is equipped with all comforts, featuring a spacious cabin that can accommodate up to 19 passengers, and ensures low levels of noise pollution and Co2 emissions.
A good portion of the exhibition area of the fair will be dedicated to business aircraft manufacturers. The planes on display will include the Embraer Praetor 600, Bombardier Global 6500, Gulfstream G-600, Textron’s Cessna Citation “Latitude” and CitationJet CJ-4, as well as the Pilatus PC-24, HondaJet HA-420, the Grand Caravan, the King Air 360. Dassault Aviation’s 6X aircraft will also make its debut in Singapore.
A clear signal is sent from the manufacturers, who are trying to respond to the strong demand for this type of aircraft. Corporate aviation in South-East Asia is in fact a rapidly expanding sector, with the two Singapore airports Changi and Seletar which hosted almost 5,000 corporate aircraft in 2023, including turbojets and turboprops, recording an increase in movements equal to more than +25% compared to 2019, the period before the pandemic.
