Canada _ (Commonwealth Union) _A extremely cold arctic air mass is hovering over most of British Columbia, and drivers are being advised to expect changing road conditions and snow accumulation. Environment Canada has issued weather advisories for the majority of British Columbia as winter weather conditions tightened their hold on the province, causing deadly temperatures and hindering traffic ahead of the Christmas season. According to the meteorological service, another bout of snow hitting the South Coast began Monday afternoon as a result of a low-pressure weather system moving up from Washington state.

Extreme cold is expected throughout the northern part of the province, including Chilcotin, Quesnel, Williams Lake, Prince George, Stuart, and 100 Mile. Temperatures are as low as -30 C, with a wind chill of -40 C. A extremely chilly Arctic air mass has arrived over the region. Extreme cold puts everyone at danger. Risks are increased for young children, elderly individuals, persons with chronic conditions, people working or exercising outside, and those without sufficient shelter. Arctic outflow warnings continue in effect for the central and north coastlines, including interior parts. Extreme cold warnings are also in effect in the far north’s Muncho Lake Park, Dease Lake, Cassiar Mountains, and Watson Lake areas.

Frostbite advisories have been issued for the Haines Road, Atlin, Teslin, Peace River, Williston, and Fort Nelson areas. Extreme cold warnings are in effect for the Elk Valley and Yoho Park districts of the southern Interior, while a snowfall alert has been issued for the West Kootenay region. The term “electronic commerce” refers to the sale of electronic goods. Most of Alberta is also under severe cold warnings, with wind chill making temperatures feel as frigid as -40 C over most of the state.
