even though the film will not make it to the big silver screens, there will be private screenings held for the cast, crew, and those individuals who were involved in the making of the film. One source described it as “funeral screenings” as a way of waving goodbye to the footage before it is locked up in a vault, never making its way to the screen.
Several sources suggest that the Warners might actually publicly destroy the footage to showcase to the IRS that no revenue will be earned from it, and thus, it should be entitled to the full write-down immediately. Other sources claim that footage of other projects such as HBO’s first Game of Thrones spinoff pilot and Bloodmoon which were cancelled under similar circumstances have been locked away in safety vaults, triggering hope for batgirl and a sliver of possibility of a potential release later on in the future, if by some miracle Warners may decide its worth releasing and pay back the government its tax liability.

Whilst Batgirl received the most attention for being cancelled, it wasn’t the only film that was victimised due to the tax wrote-down conspiracy. Scoob! Holiday Haunt is another film that had its own funeral screening last week after declaring that it will not be released in theatres.
