The visit is set to commence by the inking of a state-level trade Memorandum of Understanding with Oklahoma, which is the 4th such agreement between the UK and an American state, prior to welcoming a Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRA) between British and American architect regulators.

To practice architecture in the USA needs a license, generally at state level, making it more difficult for UK architects to work in America. With the agreement in place, the eligible UK architects and businesses will face a significantly lower-level testing as well as a smaller process to obtain a license for jurisdictions that have signed up.

“The US is our largest trading partner, and these wins reflect our successful twin-track approach to trade with the US, strengthening links with individual states in parallel with work with the federal government,” said Huddleston.
