Canadian small businesses are on the hunt for affordable insurance

Another special study performed by CFIB in August found that businesses in the transportation (87 percent) and hospitality (82 percent) industries were the most likely to report premium increases. According to CFIB, it is urging all provincial governments to enact liability immunity to assist small enterprises that reopen in compliance with COVID-19 public health recommendations. Temporary liability immunity has already been applied in some provinces, and it should be accepted by all. Guenette spoke about the need for commercial insurance for small businesses. He said, “It’s important to find short and long-term solutions to make sure small businesses have access to affordable commercial insurance. CFIB stands ready to work with the industry and government on ways to ensure just that”.
