What made the occasion particularly touching was Jyotika’s message about their marriage. Instead of presenting their relationship as perfect, she spoke openly about the difficult and ordinary parts of building a life together. She described their 20 years as a journey of “love and war”, shaped by imperfections, adjustments, understanding and sacrifice. Her words reflected a simple idea: lasting relationships are not built by avoiding problems, but by learning how to face them together. She spoke about being grateful for Suriya, their children and the life they have created as a family. She also described her husband as her equal, confidant and best friend.

Jyotika’s vows included a promise to remain the imperfect wife who may argue, make up and grow closer through each experience. She also highlighted the friendship between them, suggesting that companionship has been one of the strongest foundations of their marriage. Twenty years after saying “I do”, Suriya and Jyotika’s vow renewal serves as a reminder that love can evolve with time. For many couples, their journey offers an inspiring message: relationships become stronger when two people continue to choose, understand and support each other.
