Mumbai, India (CU)_ According to Forbes, the three wealthiest Indians have a combined net worth of over $100 billion. Forbes report noted that the total number of billionaires in India increased to 140 in 2021 from 102 in 2020, with their overall wealth nearly doubling to $596 billion.

Mukesh Ambani, Indian business tycoon and Chairman of Reliance Industries has topped the 2021 Forbes’ list of top 10 wealthiest billionaires in India with a net worth of 84.5 billion dollars. The consecutive places after Mr Ambani were conquered by Gautam Adani, the CEO of the Adani Group, and Shiv Nadar, the founder of HCL.

Asia’s wealthiest man Mukesh Ambani expanded his oil and gas business by diversifying into sectors such as telecom and retail, allowing him to sustain his top spot. Mr Ambani achieved a fund-raising operation in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, raising 35 billion dollars through a series of deals to meet his goal of decreasing the net debt of Reliance Industries to zero by 2021.

The Indian business magnet and infrastructure industrialist Gautam Adani increased his fortune by 42 billion dollars as the shares of his companies Adani Enterprises and Adani Green Energy mounted. Mr. Adani dethroned Radhakishan Dhamani, the second-richest Indian in 2020. According to Forbes, Mr. Adani’s net worth has risen five-fold since 2020. In September 2020, Mr Adani bought 74% shares in the country’s second busiest Mumbai International Airport. The business tycoon also sold a 20 percent stake from Mr Adani Green Energy, a publicly traded renewable energy company, to the French energy conglomerate Total for $2.5 billion.

Two Indians entered the top ten wealthiest Indians list by investing in the healthcare sector, which has seen a great improvement as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. Cyrus Poonawalla of the Serum Institute of India (SII) and Dilip Shanghavi of Sun Pharmaceutical Industries are the two industrialists of the pharma sectors.
