If you have type 2 diabetes, by exercising often, will reduce insulin resistance, improves sleep and mood, regulates blood pressure, promotes weight loss and improves quality of life.

Individuals who are not used to exercise, should start with low-intensity options such as swimming, biking and walking. It can be a goal to focus on working all major muscle groups and to moderate- level exercise options.

The best type of exercise for individuals with type 2 diabetes depends on the person. To improve insulin resistance by increasing insulin sensitivity, aerobic exercises such as, swimming, biking and walking would help.

Body-weight exercises, lifting weights and suspension are resistance exercise options which helps to increase lean body mass, improves insulin resistance and decrease fat content.

While choosing activities that are enjoyable, it is important to do a combination of both aerobic and resistance exercises, so that you will be able to maintain it for a long period of time.

If you have type 2 diabetes, there are many benefits of exercises as well as risks involved. Before starting a new exercise routine, it’s advisable to talk to a healthcare provider, consider your abilities and start slowly.
