FAO concludes first-ever assessment on restoring lands in Africa

(CU)_The African continent is home to a vast area of degraded forest landscapes, which intensify the effects of the climate crisis and obstruct the development of economically resilient communities in the region. Many experts have called for stronger efforts to harness the full potential of the continent’s landscapes, through sustainable production and the protection of biodiversity, among others. These views were reaffirmed by the findings of the first ever assessment on restoring Africa’s forests and landscapes, which was launched during the Africa Climate Week 2021, earlier this week.
