Five Royal Family Christmas Day rules – from not playing certain board games to staying awake until well after the sitting monarch has retired

United Kingdom (Commonwealth Union)_ Members of the Royal Family have a strange series of strict Christmas rules, that they follow, – from kids eating alone to festive game of choice

The Royal Family has their very own particular set of Christmas traditions, and they are banned from certain activities on the festive day.

A strict set of rules keeps the holiday season in check for the active royals attending this year’s bash, though to keep themselves in line with the season they are expected to follow a series of rules.

Odd rules and strict etiquette should be followed by the Royal Family on Christmas Day, at all times and there is little time to break into a normal day when the family are all together.

Five key rules are in place to ensure members of the family are kept in check, with the royals typically spending the holiday season at Sandringham House.

One of those five golden rules is where and when the family feasts on their Christmas dinner, with the parents eating at separate tables from their children in separate rooms while Princess Charlotte, Prince Louis and Prince George will all be separated from Prince William and Princess Kate for their banquet.

Mike Tindall previously revealed the rule, saying that there should be about 70 of them there and that there were seven tables and then the kiddies having their own little one in a different room.

Games are on the cards also as the Royal Family enjoy rounds of sports and outdoor events, but one board game has been entirely ruled out. The Queen stepped in to prevent Monopoly from being played, with the game off limits as it was considered being “too vicious”.

Prince Andrew revealed the ban previously, when offered the game as a gift, saying that they were not allowed to play Monopoly at home while another ban for those attending dinner at Sandringham was one of television consumption.

Royals are thoroughly chastised should they plant themselves down in front of the television to binge watching the Christmas schedule.  Expert Jennie Bond, speaking to The Sun, said that Christmas was a time of togetherness and for King Charles, “I imagine he would see this as a rare and wonderful day when the family can all be together.”

“Plus, the family loves to go for walks together and soak up the outdoors.   King Charles is not a big fan of the TV and I can’t imagine it would be on. For someone to remove themselves from the festivities to watch something would likely be seen as rude.”

Some of the stranger rules for the Royal Family include warnings over gifts of an expensive of affectionate nature.   “Light-hearted”, charmless and gifts are insisted upon, as Prince Harry once bought the Queen a shower cap that read “ain’t life a b***h.”

Novelty presents are encouraged.  So is getting some shut eye after the King of England heads to bed. Sir William Heseltine revealed that it was deemed bad form to head off to sleep before the sitting monarch had retired for the evening.

Prince Harry once said of his father, that this was a man who has dinner ridiculously late at night, and then went to his desk later that night and would fall asleep on his notes to the point where he would wake up with a piece of paper stuck to his face.

The Royals, like many families around the world, send out annual holiday cards. According to the royals’ official website, the Queen would send around 750 cards total, which, per Popsugar, she would customarily start signing on her Summer trip to Balmoral.
