Indian student wins Commonwealth Award for creating low-cost sustainable shelter for quarantine

New Delhi, India (CU)_ Kaif Ali, an Indian student from Jamia Millia Islamia’s (JMI) Faculty of Architecture and Ekistics, has been named the winner of the honourable Commonwealth Secretary-General Innovation Award for Sustainable Development 2021. He developed an inexpensive movable housing for Covid-19 quarantine and shelter from harsh weather events such as earthquakes and flooding. According to the university, Mr Ali is the only Indian among the 15 recipients from 54 Commonwealth nations. He was recognized for his efforts in resolving issues regarding COVID-19, climate change, and the refugee shelter problem.
