(Commonwealth_ James Jones & Sons, a family-owned forest products company, has announced a significant expansion of its Pallets & Packaging Division through the acquisition of HG Timber, a UK-based supplier of timber products and pallets. The move marks another milestone in the company’s strategic growth plan, further strengthening its position in the industry. Based in Buckingham, UK, HG Timber has established itself as a trusted provider of standard and bespoke pallets and timber products. Its clientele spans several critical sectors, including packaging, food, pharmaceuticals, and manufacturing industries, serving customers across the UK and Europe. The company has built a reputation for quality and innovation, backed by its state-of-the-art production facilities.

HG Timber operates eight high-speed automated and robotic production lines capable of manufacturing both 2-way and 4-way pallets. These advanced systems enable the company to produce over 1.8 million timber products annually on a single-shift basis, highlighting its operational efficiency and capacity to meet high demand. With a history tracing back to 1945, the company remains under the stewardship of the third generation of the Theodoulou family, underscoring its rich heritage and deep industry expertise. The two family-run businesses have been collaborating and discussing for years, culminating in the deal, although the financial details remain undisclosed. James Jones & Sons expects the addition of HG Timber to enhance its ability to serve its diverse customer base, both locally and nationally.

Tom Bruce-Jones, Chairman of James Jones & Sons, expressed his enthusiasm for the acquisition, stating, “We are absolutely delighted to welcome HG Timber and its employees into the James Jones & Sons Ltd Group. This acquisition represents the conclusion of many years of dialogue and discussion between both families. Their reputation, expertise, and geographical location add a further dimension to our national network, and we believe this will greatly enhance our ability to service both our local and national customer base.”

The acquisition of HG Timber aligns with James Jones & Sons’ commitment to expanding its capabilities and geographic reach. The strategic location of HG Timber in Buckingham provides an opportunity to bolster the company’s network and enhance its service offerings in key markets across the UK and Europe. By leveraging HG Timber’s advanced production technology and established market presence, James Jones & Sons aims to deliver even greater value to its customers.

Global Expansion: Hyne Group Enters Western Australia

In a parallel development, James Jones & Sons’ Australian subsidiary, Hyne Group, has also expanded its footprint through the acquisition of Pinetec, a Perth-based pallet and packaging business. This marks Hyne Group’s first manufacturing presence in Western Australia in its 142-year history, representing a significant milestone in its expansion strategy.

Pinetec’s acquisition complements Hyne Group’s earlier acquisitions of Rodpak Pallets & Packaging and Express Pallets & Crates, further strengthening its position in the Australian market. By integrating Pinetec’s operations, Hyne Group can now serve a broader geographic area, addressing growing customer demands in Western Australia. The move underscores the company’s commitment to delivering high-quality pallet and packaging solutions across Australia. The expansion of James Jones & Sons, both through HG Timber in the UK and Pinetec in Australia, highlights its strategic focus on growth and innovation in the pallets and packaging sector. These acquisitions not only broaden its operational footprint but also solidify its standing as a global leader in forest products. By integrating advanced production capabilities and fostering collaboration with long-standing industry partners, the company continues to build on its legacy of excellence and service. These strategic acquisitions position James Jones & Sons to capitalize on new opportunities and further enhance its ability to meet the evolving needs of its customers worldwide.
