Malaysia (Commonwealth Union)_One of the most eagerly awaited new trucks to be released recently is the brand-new Ranger Raptor. The all-new Ford Ranger’s Raptor has been hailed as its highest performance model, and it is claimed to be designed to control the mountains, the wilderness, and all in between. A new 3.0-liter twin-turbo Ecoboost V6 gasoline engine forms the core of the new Raptor. The new engine generates an astounding 397PS at 5,650 rpm and 583Nm of torque at just 3,500 rpm when coupled to Ford’s 10-speed automated transmission. The engine is not just a scientific marvel but also a powerhouse in every meaning of the term. It is believed to be 75% stronger and up to 75% stiffer than the iron used in conventional engine castings and is constructed utilizing a compacted graphite-iron cylinder block.

A unique “race-bred” anti-lag system that keeps the twin turbos spinning for up to three seconds after the driver takes off the throttle is one of the motorsport-derived innovations included in the engine. In order to guarantee that there is never any turbo lag and that power is always available to the driver upon request. The chassis and suspension received full attention from Ford’s experts. For increased strength and weight, the shock absorbers and suspension have been totally overhauled. The control arms, both upper and lower, have been reinforced and made lighter. Long front and rear suspension travel combined with a Watt’s link rear suspension provide the driver superior control on rough terrain and at high speeds.

Two sets of FOX shocks are in charge of handling suspension work as well. The new shocks, which include a 2.5-inch Live Valve Internal Bypass technology to improve ride comfort and handling, are claimed to be the most advanced shocks ever installed on a Ranger Raptor. Not only that, but the shocks are also loaded with fluid that has Teflon injected into it, which dramatically lowers friction when compared to the FOX shocks on the previous Raptor. Additionally, the shocks include predictive technology that makes use of state-of-the-art position-sensitive damping capabilities to forecast suspension movement depending on driving habits and the terrain.
