Malaysia contributes vaccine doses to Bangladesh!

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (CU)_ To show their unity and support for Bangladesh’s battle against the Covid-19 pandemic, the Malaysian government has donated approximately 559,000 AstraZeneca vaccines. At an official event conducted at the State Guest House Padma, Haznah Md Hashim, Malaysia’s high commissioner to Bangladesh, donated some symbolic vaccines to Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen. According to the foreign minister, over 100 million people have now been immunized in Bangladesh.

Chief officials from the Foreign and Health Ministries, as well as representatives from the Malaysian High Commission, were in attendance. According to High Commissioner Hashim, the Malaysian government’s contribution of 559,200 doses of vaccines and essential medical equipment to the Bangladesh government demonstrates the two countries’ strong, friendly, and amicable relationship. Additionally, the high commissioner stated that the Malaysian government supported Bangladesh by supplying vaccines, despite the country’s low supply.

Foreign Minister Momen expressed gratitude for Malaysia’s generous gift and support, appreciating them for helping Bangladesh throughout this pandemic. Momen said that the Bangladesh government’s enormous vaccination campaign, led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, had already immunized more than 100 million of the country’s total population. According to him, over 67 million citizens had a single dosage and over 37 million got two doses. He praised the effective planning of the immunization program, noting that up to 8 million people were vaccinated within a day during special vaccination campaigns.

Momen also stated that sufficient vaccines are available and that the vaccination procedure for the entire country was on schedule. He stated that Bangladesh will soon enter the vaccine manufacturing business. The foreign minister also expressed gratitude to the government of Malaysia for permitting Bangladeshi expatriate employees to remain in the country even at the most difficult times of the Covid-19 outbreak.
