MasterChef Singapore – Back with a twist

The toughest cooking competition in the world is back !  Get ready for a sizzling fourth season of MasterChef Singapore which will ignite the kitchen with Singaporean flavours and team battles!  MasterChef Singapore returns on 9th August for a Fourth Season.  The winner will walk away with S$10,000 in cash.

For the first time ever, this season will feature 18 talented contestants who will be competing in three teams of six.  Each group will be led by one of the 3 judges : Chefs Bjorn Shen, Damian D’Silva and Audra Morrice.  This time a showdown is brewing between judges and contestants alike.  As contestants join hands competing against each other in turns, resident judges will be also drawn into a friendly rivalry as they lead their respective teams towards success in special tests of leadership, friendship and teamwork in the company of special international guests and giants in the culinary world.  This season will see contestants compete across a mix of high pressure individual cook offs and pulse racing Team challenges.

Season 4 will have a slight twist though as the eighteen aspiring home chefs will compete a la The Voice.  As the competition heats up, its focus will shift to battles for individual honours.  The last cook standing will be the winner of the title MasterChef and walk away with S$10,000 in cash, along with an array of appliances and homewares, staycation packages and internship opportunities.

This season’s contestants will comprise of folks from all walks of life.  The Season 4 home cooks were shortlisted from an intensive nationwide search through hundreds of applicants for budding culinary stars from all walks of life, from a shipbroker to a home based baker, an ex flight attendant to an engineer and beyond, who boast a wide repertoire of cooking styles.   The eighteen talented home cooks were selected and are ranging from  stay at home moms, a legal trainee, engineer, account director, a home based baker, food start up owner, urban planner, former pharmacist, home based business owner, ex-flight attendant, food delivery driver and a shipbroker who have been chosen to fight for 12 MasterChef aprons.  Only one of them will taste the glory of the MasterChef Singapore title.

The season’s hopefuls range between the ages of 18 and 53, and are an eclectic, diverse mix, each with unique stories that add flavour and depth to their culinary creations.

Mediacorp’s Chief Customer and Corporate Development Officer Angeline Poh said in a statement that they were thrilled to open the doors to the MasterChef kitchen on this National Day, which was perfectly timed to celebrate Singaporeans’ universal love for food.

Season Four is poised to shake things up beyond an enticing feast of local dishes reimagined by aspiring home cooks, with the introduction of judges’ teams dialling up the drama and the competition.  She went on to say that they hope viewers will join them on the journey, and witness their culinary drams unfold while rallying behind the aspiring chefs.

For those of you who are tuning into MasterChef Singapore Season 4 will premiere Wednesday, into this year’s National Day Parade (NDP), on August 9th starting from 8.30 p.m. to 9 p.m. and resuming from 9.30 p.m. to 10 p.m.  Be sure not to change the channel once the festivities have come to a close.   Following the premiere of the fourth season of MasterChef Singapore, subsequent episodes will be aired from August 13th every Sunday at 9.30 p.m. All episodes of MasterChef Singapore will be available on demand the same night via Mediacorp Entertainment YouTube Channel 5 and mewatch.
