Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki is making some noise where the education of Nigeria is concerned as has said revamping the state College of Education will enhance the employability of graduates from the institution, as well as help them to compete favorably with their peers.

This makes sense as the Governor has been trying to get work done in the schools ever since Covid 19 hit and he is well aware that not all school children have the facility to do online learning. The governor is trying his best to get the education institutes up and running so that students can safely come back to get and education and have a better future.

Obaseki, who was represented by his Chief of Staff (CoS), Osaigbovo Iyoha, said this during a visit of the Students Union Government (SUG) of the Edo State College of Education, Igueben Campus, at the Government House, Benin City.

He said the decision by the government to revamp the college would benefit the students and ensure that it competes favorably with other world-class institutions across the globe.

This would do well for the country if foreign students were to recognize these educational institutes as hopefully for their higher and further studies as it would bring in foreign funds as well as recognition. The governor has big plans for his part of the country and we can see that his leadership was what was needed for the education in Edo.

Speaking, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Mrs. Stella-Maris Imasuen, said: “The report on recruitment into the institution has been sent to the governor and as soon as it is approved, the college will commence academic activities on the three campuses with a uniform academic calendar.”
