Pakistan orders…

-

Pakistan (Commonwealth) _ Following the revelation that 14 of the 24 suicide bombings in the nation this year were carried out by Afghan nationals, Pakistan on Tuesday issued an order requiring all illegal immigrants, including 1.73 million Afghans, to leave the country immediately or risk expulsion.

It was unclear right now how Pakistani authorities would make sure the illegal immigrants leave or locate them to remove them. With this announcement, Islamabad has reached a new low in its relationship with Kabul, which had already deteriorated during fighting along their shared border last month.

According to Pakistan’s Interior Minister Bugti, 4.4 million Afghan refugees reside in Pakistan, while 1.73 million Afghan nationals living there lack the necessary documentation to remain. There is no disputing the fact that Afghan citizens are attacking us from within Afghanistan, the man continued. “We have proof,”

Since the Soviet invasion of Kabul in 1979, Islamabad has experienced the highest migration of Afghan refugees. After meeting with the prime minister and army chief to address peace and order following a recent wave of extremist assaults, Bugti was speaking in Islamabad.

Since the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), an umbrella organization for extreme Sunni Islamist terrorists, canceled a ceasefire, the bloodshed has increased in an unexpected way. The TTP seeks to destroy the Pakistani government and impose a severe version of Islamic law in its place.

Last week, at least 57 people were killed in two suicide bombs in Pakistan that were directed at religious groups. The TTP denied taking part. According to Bugti, one of the suicide bombers was an Afghan national.

In addition to operating in Pakistan, the Islamist State has carried out assaults there. The Pakistani military says it pushed Islamist militants to escape to Afghanistan as a result of many offensives it has launched against them, primarily in the rocky hilly terrain near the Afghan border. Islamabad claims that the extremists train on Afghan soil and plot strikes inside Pakistan. Kabul disputes this claim, arguing that Pakistan’s security is a local matter.

Kabul didn’t respond to Bugti’s remarks right away. Meanwhile, On Tuesday, the UN expressed opposition to a Pakistani deadline for the removal of more than 1 million “illegal immigrants,” stating that “the return must be voluntary and without any pressure.”

To assure protection for individuals seeking safety, any refugee return must be voluntary and free of any compulsion, according to Qaisar Khan Afridi, a spokesman for the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). He exhorted Islamabad, which has kindly hosted refugees for more than 40 years, to set up a system to guarantee that Afghans who have international protection are not returned.

We must also keep in mind that persons who are escaping persecution frequently lack the required papers and travel authorizations, he added. He stated that the UNHCR is prepared to assist Pakistan in creating a system to oversee and record individuals on its soil who require international protection and to address “particular vulnerabilities.”

For many years, Pakistan has been a welcoming host to refugees. Although this function has received widespread recognition, more must be done to equal its generosity, he continued. The most recent UN statistics show that 880,000 additional Afghans have legal permission to remain in Pakistan, giving a total of 1.3 million Afghans the status of registered refugees.

Since the beginning of September, at least 700 Afghans have been detained in Karachi alone, with hundreds more detained in other cities, according to police statistics.

Pakistan’s immigrant population has recently seen a dramatic increase. In Pakistan, nearly all undocumented immigrants are Muslim refugees, and the local populace accepts them. The political will or legal framework to expel these refugees from Pakistan does not exist.
