Roadblock for Pakistan Cricket Board

-

Pakistan (Commonwealth) _The PCB will undoubtedly keep looking for a long-term head coach. It is unclear who will eventually assume command and lead the Pakistan Cricket Team into the future.

Following their rejection of offers from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Shane Watson and Darren Sammy have put a stop to the hunt for a new head coach for the Pakistan Cricket Team.

Darren Sammy is committed to the West Indies. Due to his current engagement with the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) as the head coach of their white-ball teams, former West Indian captain Darren Sammy chose not to participate. It’s possible that the PCB was expecting for Sammy’s leadership and experience, but his current obligation kept him from accepting their offer.

Shane Watson withdraws

Shane Watson, an Australian all-rounder, first expressed interest in the role and even had discussions with the PCB about specifics, such as monetary remuneration. Reliable sources claim that the PCB was prepared to accommodate Watson’s requests.

Negotiations, however, took a different turn when information about the potential deal was disclosed to social media and the Pakistani media. In the end, Watson allegedly turned down the offer because he was offended by the confidentially violation. He gave as his reasons his previous obligations as an IPL and USA league pundit and his wish to be with his family in Australia more time.

Temporary solutions for Pakistan Cricket

Now that Watson and Sammy are out of the running, the PCB needs to come up with a plan. Currently, they are looking at the possibilities of a temporary agreement to manage the national team’s training camp, which is set to take place from March 25 to April 8. The squad would be led by this interim coach in the weeks leading up to the five-match Twenty20 series that will begin on April 14th against New Zealand.

The PCB will undoubtedly keep looking for a long-term head coach. It is unclear who will eventually assume command and lead the Pakistan Cricket Team into the future.

Under the direction of its new chairman, Mohsin Naqvi, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is seeking to hire overseas mentors and assistants to help the national squad prepare for the June T20 World Cup in the USA and the West Indies.
According to a knowledgeable source inside the board, Mohsin Naqvi, the new chairman, is eager to examine the coaching possibilities available for Pakistan and is more likely to select international coaches and support personnel.

Because he is aware that foreign coaches may be hesitant to join the Pakistan team due to the way Mickey Arthur, Grant Bradburn, and Andrew Puttick were dismissed from their roles after the World Cup and had their contracts cut short, Naqvi has already requested chief selector Wahab Riaz to speak with some of the possibilities and short list candidates.

Early this month, Naqvi, a seasoned administrator, was named PCB chief for a three-year tenure. According to the source, Wahab has been entrusted with initiating conversations with potential candidates. Wahab is very close to the Chairman, having served as his trusted advisor on sports in the Punjab administration.

Muhammad Hafeez, a former Test captain, was given a three-year contract by the board’s previous chairman, Zaka Ashraf, but the PCB just fired him as team director.

Given that Hafeez hired Umar Gul and Saeed Ajmal as instructors, their futures are likewise in doubt. According to the source, Naqvi thought Muhammad Rizwan would be a better captain for both white ball forms and wasn’t sure Shaheen Shah Afridi was the ideal person to head the T20 team.

There is no question that Shaheen’s performance as captain of the Pakistan Super League is being closely examined, according to the source. Following the 50-over World Cup, Zaka dismissed Babar Azam as captain of all three formats and replaced him with past players who had represented the country after 2000. He also made changes to the coaching staff and selection committee.

The source noted that there has been some unease in the Pakistani dressing room since the shift, particularly during Hafeez’s tenure as director in Australia and New Zealand, and that it is evident that Babar is still struggling to move past the way the board made him leave as captain.

Since he has always been close to the fast bowler, Rizwan, Shadab Khan, and Haris Rauf inside the squad, Babar secretly feels betrayed by Shaheen.” The insider stated that the Pakistan board and team may experience several changes before the end of March.

The insider also said that there was a falling out between Wahab and Hafeez, who both received significant authority from Zaka. Wahab is close to Naqvi, but the former is now upset that Wahab refused to back him in maintaining his position as team director.
