Mumbai (Commonwealth Union)_ Bollywood legend Shah Rukh Khan turned 60 this year, and as always, his birthday felt less like a private affair and more like a national celebration. Every year, fans from across India gather outside his Mumbai home, Mannat, to mark the day with music, fireworks, and endless chants of “SRK! SRK!” For his admirers, it’s not just a birthday; it’s an event. This year, however, the festivities began quietly at his Alibaug farmhouse, where Khan celebrated the milestone with close friends and family. Karan Johar, Farah Khan, Sanjay Kapoor and his family, Chunky Panday and family, and Navya Nanda were among those who joined the private gathering.
By the afternoon, Shah Rukh was back in Mumbai. But unlike past years, the familiar sight of massive crowds outside Mannat was missing. The Mumbai Police had sealed the area within a one-kilometer radius for safety reasons, restricting fan access. Thousands who had travelled long distances waited patiently behind barricades, hoping for a glimpse of their idol on the balcony, a moment that has become a beloved tradition. Unable to step out, SRK took to X to share an emotional note. “I’ve been advised by authorities not to step out and greet you lovely people who’ve been waiting for me,” he wrote. “It’s for everyone’s safety due to crowd control issues. Believe me, I’ll miss seeing you more than you’ll miss seeing me.”

Later that afternoon, Khan surprised fans by appearing at Bandra’s Balgandharv Rang Mandir for a special meet-and-greet. Around 400 to 500 lucky fans attended the event, divided between “golden” and “purple” passes. Those with golden passes got the rare chance to meet him up close. When SRK walked in wearing blue jeans, a black T-shirt, and a white jacket, the crowd erupted in cheers. He greeted them with his signature open-arm pose, danced to Zinda Banda, recited a dialogue from his upcoming film King, and cut a three-tier cake decorated with his initials.

King Khan’s daughter Suhana Khan also shared a touching birthday post: a photo of two coffee mugs labeled “King” and “King’s Princess,” a sweet nod to their upcoming film King. Directed by Siddharth Anand, the action thriller marks the first time Shah Rukh and Suhana will appear together on screen. The film’s teaser, released the same day, gave fans a thrilling preview and a perfect birthday surprise from the King of Bollywood himself.
