Sri Lanka chased a score of 184 runs with four balls and 2 wickets to spare, directly gliding into the Super Four of the Asia Cup 2022 and what a phenomenal match it was!

There was a lot of back and forth throughout the game, clouding the atmosphere with intense pressure as the nail-biter finished with Sri Lanka emerging victorious.

Whilst having a good start, Sri Lanka faced trouble at 77/4 in the ninth over, after which Kusal Mendis scored a half century bringing life into the game for all Sri Lankan fans. This was supported by skipper Dasun Shanaka’s nifty graceful performance which brought a wave of hope for Sri Lanka.

Things started to look up for Bangladesh at 158/7 in the 18th over when Sri Lanka lost another wicket, however the penultimate over saw a boundary and a no-ball by Bangladeshi bowler Ebadot Hussain, thus becoming quite an expensive over for Bangladesh as Sri Lanka scored 17 runs.

Debutant Asith Fernando hit 10 off three balls, securing a crucial boundary which was the ultimate game-changer for Sri Lanka last night. This was recorded as the second-highest run chase in the T20Is. It was also the highest-ever successful run chase in UAE in T20Is, beating Afghanistan’s run chase of 180 against UAE in 2016.

It was truly an amazing, power-packed performance from both teams, who fought until the very end to attain victory. A lot of moments in the match made the audience sit on the edge of their seats in anticipation of the direction the match would take. This match of the Asia Cup is surely the most unpredictable one yet, making it one to remember for life!
