CHENNAI, India (CWBN)_ Tamil Nadu DMK President MK Stalin wrote a letter to US Vice President elect Kamala Harris in Tamil. He congratulated her on her historic victory and recalled her relationship with Tamil Nadu. He expressed confidence that she will excel in her performance and will bring more laurels to America during her tenure as Vice President.
Stalin wished and greeted her with “Vanakkam” and said that it is a proud moment for the people of the state that US Vice President has links to Tamil Nadu as her mother hailed from the state. He said that he is writing the letter in Tamil as it would make her happy for it is the mother tongue of her mother Shyamala Gopalan Harris.
Stalin posted a copy of the letter in his Facebook page. In the letter, he wrote that Harris’ victory had brought a sense of confidence in Dravidian movement which forever believes in gender equality and egalitarian society. He expressed his happiness and praised her on her victory.
The DMK Chief proudly mentioned that Harris’ victory through her hard work had proved that a woman with Tamil roots is eligible and qualified to govern even the United States of America. He mentioned that Tamil Nadu is eagerly looking forward to her visit and said “Let your tenure bring more laurels to America and herald the pride of Tamil heritage to the world”.
Kamala Harris’ mother Shyamala Gopalan Harris hailed from Thulasendrapuram village and Painganadu in Tiruvarur district in Tamil Nadu.
Harris’ ancestral village celebrated her historic win with overwhelming joy. The villagers shared sweets and indulged in an early Diwali celebration with firecrackers over the victory of the Democrat.
