India (Commonwealth Union) _ In comparison to the same month last year, Tata Motors Ltd. recorded a 2% increase in overall domestic vehicle sales in September, reaching 82,023 units.

According to a regulatory statement from Tata Motors, domestic passenger car sales, which include electric vehicles, were down 6% last month to 44,809 units from 47,654 units in September 2022.

Sales of electric vehicles, including those in foreign markets, increased by 57% in the past month to 6,050 units from 3,864 units.

Sales of passenger vehicles continued to be high in Q2 FY24, supported by new launches and pre-holiday offtakes. Shailesh Chandra, managing director of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd, reported that the company sold 1,38,939 cars and SUVs in the second quarter of fiscal year 24—a decrease of around 2.7% from the previous quarter, which was also the company’s highest-ever quarter.

He said, “Our EV business continues to have strong momentum and has posted growth of about 55% year over year. According to Chandra, the firm added the cutting-edge twin-cylinder CNG option to Tiago, Tigor, and Punch in Q2 FY24, and the market has responded well.

The company said that its total sales of commercial vehicles increased by 12% to 39064 units in September 2023 from 34890 units in September 2022.  Commercial vehicle domestic sales for Tata Motors, according to Executive Director Girish Wagh, increased by 6% to 99,178 in Q2FY24 from Q2FY23.

He noted that the development in the core industries, strong replacement demand, and expansion in the market for medium and heavy commercial vehicles all contributed to the segment’s strong 24% increase over Q2 of FY23. The Nexon continues to be the most popular vehicle made by Tata. In February 2023, the automaker sold 13,914 Nexon units compared to 12,259 units in February 2022, representing a YoY growth of 14%.

With 47,630 units sold in July 2023 and a 13.5% market share, Tata Motors was the third best-selling OEM. Sales were flat year over year when compared to the 47,506 units sold in July 2023, although they did slightly better month over month when compared to the 47,240 units sold in June 2023.

July 2023 Tata Car Sales Breakdown Despite YoY and MoM de-growth: Tata Motors had the Nexon at the top of the sales list in July 2023 and 12,349 units of the Nexon were sold, a 13% decrease from the 14,214 units sold in July 2022. In comparison to the 13,827 units sold in June 2023, MoM sales fell by 11%. The Maruti Suzuki Brezza and the freshly released Fronx surpassed the Tata Nexon in July 2023 to claim the top spot on the list of best-selling sub-4 meter SUVs. Tata vehicle sales breakdown for July 2023: Tata Punch sales increased to 12,019 units, up 9% YoY and 9% MoM.

The company’s focus on electric cars, as evidenced by the expansion of the Tiago and Nexon EVs, is consistent with a larger industry trend toward sustainable mobility. Tata Motors’ capacity to adjust to shifting consumer tastes and technical improvements will probably have a big impact on how its sales trajectory develops in the future as market conditions continue to change. Launches recently and future launches, both the Altroz CNG and the Punch CNG, both with two-cylinder technology, were introduced by Tata Motors in India. Punch CNG claims to have a 26.99 km/kg fuel economy.

In the market for electric vehicles, Tata Motors is a market leader. It offers designs including the Nexon, Tiago, and Tigor. By the beginning of 2024, they intend to introduce 4 new EVs. These are probably the revised Nexon EV, Punch EV, Harrier EV, and Curvv EV.
