The biggest cultural extravaganza is back in Colombo!

The French Spring Festival is an annual affair that brings a piece of France to the tropical island of Sri Lanka, while it also symbolizes the long-standing diplomatic relationship upheld by the two nations. Bringing the best of both art and creative expressions unique to France and Sri Lanka, the French Spring Festival acts as a platform and portal that showcases the varied talents of skilled artists.

Ambassador of France to Sri Lanka and the Maldives Jean-Francois Pactet speaking to the media on the upcoming French Spring Festival, announced that the event is to be held from the 24th of June to the 13th of July and will make a grand comeback after 2019, due to the postponing of the event owing to the COVID-19 pandemic and the economic crisis in Sri Lanka.

This will mark the 11th edition of the French Spring Festival organized by the Embassy of France in Sri Lanka in collaboration with the Alliances Francaises in Sri Lanka and the Maldives.

The 2023 French Spring Festival is set to be a special edition, organized on a large scale as it will also coincide with the 75th anniversary of Sri Lanka- France diplomatic ties.

A celebration of Sri Lankan and French art and culture, the festival will feature multifaceted expressions and creative ideologies of musicians, artists, writers, poets, and many personalities in creative fields while it will also fuse artistic interpretations of both cultures.

The French Spring Festival will be inaugurated on the 24th of June, opening with International Music Day- an ode to Sri Lankan and French music. The musical program will be carried out in two parts; an open mic at Alliance Francaise (afternoon), and a live music concert at the Sri Lanka Foundation Institute (evening), featuring a French singer named Lea PACI and a few Sri Lankan bands.

Followed by this event, a photographic exhibition titled ‘Celebrate’ will take place on the 5th of July, displaying the winning photographs of the contest hosted by the Alliance Francaise of Kotte in Colombo.

The French Film Festival, a popular aspect of the French Spring Festival in the past years, will run for four days from the 6th to the 9th of July, showing six French movies by the National Film Cooperation.
