Sri Lankan (Commonwealth Union)_ Sri Lankan Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena, along with the High Commissioner and other dignitaries, unveiled a Special Commemorative Cover for the renowned Sita Temple near Nuwara Eliya district. This landmark event was inaugurated by the Prime Minister who visited the popular temple, which is considered a significant location for both Sri Lanka and India. The Sita Temple, situated near the scenic town of Nuwara Eliya, is thought to be the Ashok Vatika, as described in the Indian epic Ramayana. The site is considered holy and treasured by Hindus.
During his time there, the Prime Minister laid the foundation stone to build a meditation center on the temple premises. This new addition to the facilities at the temple is anticipated to draw a large number of tourists from India and other locations around the world. The Prime Minister expressed delight over the opening of the Meditation Center and underlined the need to launch additional facilities at holy places in order to boost spiritual tourism in the nation.
