UK government boosts green growth

-

Europe UK (Commonwealth Union) – Green energy, sources such as wind, solar, geothermal, and hydro power have been in much focus in recent years. Unlike fossil fuels, which are finite and contribute to atmospheric pollution, green energy sources are abundant and do not emit harmful greenhouse gases.

The use of green energy has become increasingly popular in recent years as the world becomes more aware of the damaging effects of climate change. Many countries and companies have set ambitious targets to transition to renewable energy in order to reduce their carbon footprint and contribute to global efforts to combat climate change.

The UK government recently announced its plans to boost green energy while creating more jobs in the green energy sector. Parts of their plans include carbon capture usage and storage (CCUS) and hydrogen, that will be a key component of the new Energy Security Plan of the government.

One of the most well-known forms of green energy is solar power. Solar power is a clean source of, abundant energy, and does not produce harmful emissions. The use of solar power has increased dramatically in recent years, with many countries increasing solar installations. A key obstacle for many was the high initial cost of making the solar switch. However due the lack of sunlight in the UK, wind power has been a more popular option.

PM Rishi Sunak says “Thanks to our unique geography and strong expertise in clean technology, the UK is well placed to create thriving new industries in carbon capture, hydrogen and floating offshore wind across the country.”

“By investing in new ways to power Britain from Britain, we will not only strengthen our long-term energy security, but also deliver on our promise to grow the economy with well-paid jobs and opportunities for businesses to export their expertise around the world.”

The keen attempt by the UK governments to switch over to green energy at a rapid rate is likely to be welcomed by the public who had much concerns with rising energy cost and the recent global economic crisis. However, the pace of the switch has created concerns regarding the initial cost of switching and the efficiency of green energy which is likely to improve with further research.
