Bengaluru, India (CWBN)_ Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa promised for a green and clean Bengaluru in a time span of two years and also assured that the city will regain its “Garden City” status in the near future. According to Karnataka government’s Bengaluru Mission 2022 which was launched by the CM Yeddyurappa, the mission aims to dramatically reduce the most troublesome factors of the city such as blocking traffic, polluted and disappearing lakes, and waste disposal as well as the other elements which act as a barrier to the city’s green and clean goal.

As per the innovative plans of the mission put in place by the CM Yeddyurappa, it aims to renovate the 483-year-old city by 2022, eliminating most of the disturbing elements from the city and aims at a world-class infrastructure.

After launching the Bengaluru Mission 2022 program, Mr Yeddyurappa addressed the people and said, “This Mission envisages comprehensive and sustainable development and world-class amenities…The Mission has been formulated after studying the challenges and problems faced in everyday life in the city”. He added, “Faster commuting, Swachcha Bengaluru, Green Bengaluru, and connectivity are some of the core areas identified by it to work on. We will provide more money in the budget also, to Bengaluru”.

The Chief Minister glorified the Bengaluru city and said that it is one of the world’s fastest-developing cities and a main technology hub in the country where most of the multinational companies exist, and is also a prime contributor to the country’s economy as well. But for the annoying factors such as traffic blocks, polluted lakes, and floods, the city that comprises more than a crore people has in recent years made headlines. And among those to be resolved by the new mission are these concerns.

The city’s vehicular population has increased four times in the last 30 years which simultaneously led to heavy traffic. A few arterial roads and high-density highways bear up to 70 percent of the traffic, which is a major concern to be dealt with. The Mission now states that as cleared by the state cabinet, 190 kilometers along 12 such high-density corridors will be improved. Synchronous traffic lights will be added which will also enhance the aesthetic quality of the roads.

Mr Yeddyurappa promised that every six months there will be field visits and spot examinations to follow up the work progress and that the media will be addressed to show the progress made by the Mission. The CM expressed hopes saying, “I have got 100 percent confidence that within two years we will complete the work”.
