Apollo hospital, Navi Mumbai unveils 4th generation Da Vinci Xi Robotic System

-

India (Commonwealth Union)_The Apollo Cancer Centre in Navi Mumbai unveiled the fourth-generation Da Vinci Xi Robotic System. The highlight of the Robotic Colorectal Cancer Conference held in collaboration with the Association of Colon and Rectal Surgeons of India (ACRSI) was the introduction of the Da Vinci Xi Robotic System. The Da Vinci Xi Robotic System is the most up-to-date in robotic and surgical technology, with improved instruments, vision, and features such as integrated table motion, versatility, and adaptability that enhance operating room productivity. The da Vinci surgical system provides the physician with a sophisticated set of equipment for minimally invasive robotic surgery. The system is an advanced robotic platform intended to improve the surgeon’s capabilities and provide an alternative to open surgery.

Santosh Marathe, regional CEO of the Western Region at Apollo Hospitals, expressed pride over the launch of the advanced Da Vinci Xi Robotic Surgical system. He said, “We are proud to launch the advanced Da Vinci Xi Robotic System that is a game-changer in the field of robotic surgery. We are confident that it will revolutionize clinical outcomes for patients who require complex surgeries. This is in line with our commitment to providing our patients with the most advanced healthcare technologies and services”. According to him, “The Da Vinci Xi Robotic system can be used in the fields of colorectal surgeries, urology, oncology, gynecology, thoracic, cardiology, pediatric and gastro-intestinal surgeries, kidney transplants, and liver transplantation. Apollo Hospitals will be investing significant efforts in the training of surgeons and clinical talents for the program with equivalent investments for post-operative and rehab care.”

According to Dr. Anil D’cruz, Director of Oncology and Consultant in Surgical Oncology at Apollo Hospitals in Navi Mumbai, robotic operations are a safe and efficient alternative to open and laparoscopic surgeries, providing special benefits in technically complex conditions. Further, multi-quadrant operations, such as colorectal surgeries, present unique challenges during robot-assisted surgery. The Da Vinci Xi Robotic system gives access to all quadrants of the abdomen with a number of benefits, including improved vision, ergonomics, smaller incisions, and a decreased risk of infection. It also allows surgeons to conduct difficult surgical procedures with higher precision, less blood loss, and faster patient recovery.

The advantages of robotic surgery over laparoscopic and open surgery are enhanced ergonomics and 3D optics for the surgeon. It reduces the likelihood of perioperative death and wound infections while increasing overall survival. According to Dr. AmolKumar Patil, Senior Consultant of Urology, Uro-Oncology, Kidney Transplant, and Robotic Surgery at Apollo Hospitals in Navi Mumbai, Apollo has always been a pioneer in adopting and implementing new technology, and the launch of the da Vinci Xi robotic system is one of the major examples of the group’s dedication to providing the best possible care for the patients. The robotic system’s superior technology will allow us to undertake challenging surgeries such as kidney transplants and major uro-oncology surgeries with improved accuracy, safety, and efficacy. He expressed confidence that the Da Vinci Xi robotic technology will significantly improve the lives of the patients.

According to Dr. Shalin Dubey, Consultant-General Surgery at Apollo Hospitals in Navi Mumbai, the Da Vinci Xi Robotic System has several benefits over conventional open surgery. The machine gives the surgeon a clear 3D image, which enhances depth perception. Moreover, the device provides improved ergonomics for the surgeon, resulting in increased accuracy and a reduction in tremor. It also minimizes the risk of infection, shortens hospital stays and healing periods, and expedites patients’ recovery and return to work. This method has proven useful in hernia and other general surgical operations.
