Special Campaign 5.0 was successfully completed by the Ministry of Education’s Department of School Education & Literacy between October 2 and October 31 2025. The initiative significantly advanced goals related to efficiency, cleanliness and environmental consciousness for government offices and educational institutions nationwide.

On November 1st, 2025, PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya No. 1, Delhi Cantt, was visited by Minister of State for Education, Skill Development, and Entrepreneurship, Shri Jayant Chaudhary. He praised Safai Mitras for their dedication and asked students to actively maintain Swachhata (cleanliness) at their school.

An important step was the webinar on e-waste awareness and reduction on October 9th which was led by Shri Sanjay Kumar, Secretary of the Department of School Education & Literacy. Next, a National E-waste Management Campaign & Collection Drive organised by Eco Clubs for Mission LiFE in Assam, Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan and Chandigarh encompassed over 1000 schools. Over 99,692 students attended 83 sessions with 3,937 kg of e-waste collected encouraging responsible use and proper trash management.

DoSEL’s primary focus was on enhancing accountability and efficiency in governance by reviewing outstanding issues, digitising records and eliminating outdated files. By institutionalising Swachhata within government offices such methodical efforts are producing efficiency, transparency and order.

There was a noticeable change in schools in all states and Union Territories. This involved extensive school maintenance, repairs, painting, whitewashing and cleaning. Functional upgrades to drinking water, electrical fixtures and sanitation were produced for better and healthier learning environments.

Murals, wall art, and BaLA (Building as Learning Aid), which are components from local art traditions like Madhubani and Warli, transformed school buildings into engaging and innovative learning environments. An inventive installation was produced at National Bal Bhavan using leftover wood, iron rods, nuts, bolts and cement where the artwork is a potent symbol of environmental awareness.

Special Campaign 5.0 which greatly improved Swachhata and environmental stewardship throughout the school system effectively reaffirmed the Ministry of Education’s commitment to creating clean, effective and sustainable learning environments through the combined efforts of stakeholders.
