India (Commonwealth Union)_ At WSSHW 2026, Indian businessman and DAC Developers Founder and Managing Director Dr. Sathish Kumar Santhanam connected Tamil heritage with contemporary ideas of sustainability, offering a perspective rooted in tradition but focused firmly on the future. At an international discussion on sustainability, resilience and human well-being at the Second World Summit on Sustainable Health and Well-Being 2026, he spoke on the theme “From Our Roots to Our Future: Building for Generations”. Dr. Sathish Kumar Santhanam stressed that the choices made in construction and urban development today will directly influence the quality of life of future generations.

According to Dr. Sathish Kumar Santhanam, sustainability should not be viewed merely as an environmental objective, but as a long-term commitment toward people and communities. Drawing from Tamil heritage, he cited the Kallanai, the ancient dam built across the Cauvery River, as an example of engineering done with future generations in mind. He also highlighted the Brihadisvara Temple, pointing to its remarkable precision, architectural knowledge and ability to remain several centuries after its construction. Another important part of his address was the timeless Tamil expression “Yaadhum Oore; Yaavarum Kelir,” written by poet Kaniyan Pungundranar.

Recalling former Indian President Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam’s use of the phrase at the European Parliament, Dr. Sathish Kumar Santhanam connected its message of shared humanity with the need for inclusive and sustainable development. He outlined a vision of future communities supported by water security, clean energy, food resilience, technology, access to nature, affordability and stronger human connections. “The next leap in human longevity will not come from medicine alone. It will come from the built world we choose to create today,” he said. For DAC Developers, the message reflects a wider ambition to develop communities that are resilient, inclusive and prepared for changing environmental and social needs.

DAC Developers, a Chennai-based company established in 2014, has completed more than 110 projects with over 4.5 million sq. ft. of construction and serves more than 3,000 homeowners. The company is dedicated to combining design, affordability, accessibility and amenities, while holding true to standards of construction and customer trust. Furthermore, DAC Developers also launched BALMANDAISA at Porur-Poonamallee Main Road in September 2026. The ultra-luxury project offers 194 residences, including 2 and 3 BHK apartments and larger 4 and 5 BHK duplex homes with private terraces.

The company has also expanded its presence along Chennai’s Old Mahabalipuram Road corridor. Its association with Yubi has supported two transactions involving ₹66 crore in funding, while a proposed ₹250 crore platform for future land acquisition opportunities is currently under discussion. Overall, Dr. Sathish Kumar Santhanam’s UN address placed his business growth within a broader idea: progress should preserve the lessons of the past while creating healthier, safer and more sustainable communities for generations to come.
