Ontario, Canada (CU)_ According to Newsweek magazine’s World’s Best Hospitals 2022 study, Canada’s North York General Hospital (NYGH) has been named the premier community academic hospital and the fourth best hospital in the country for the fourth time in a row. NYGH serves roughly half a million patients across seven locations with acute, ambulatory, and long-term care.
Bert Clark, head of the NYGH board of governors, released a press statement, expressing delight over the accomplishment. He said, “North York General is honored to be named among the best hospitals in Canada and the world again this year. According to a press release from North York General, North York comprises the largest number of elderly individuals in Central Ontario and Toronto, as well as a varied community, with approximately 50% of residents being immigrants. NYGH is home to one of the busiest emergency departments in the Greater Toronto Area and one of the leading single-site birthing centers across Canada.

He said, “As an organization known for its commitment to continuous quality improvement, it is so important to receive feedback on how we are performing. Guided by our strategic plan, ‘Thinking Beyond,’ NYGH is focused on transforming health care for the future through strong partnerships with providers, patients and caregivers, modernizing and expanding our hospital and long-term-care services, and promoting an inclusive and equitable environment at NYGH.”
