-

Hyderabad, India (CU)_ In commemoration of this year’s National Handloom Day, the Telangana government inaugurated “Nethanna Bima,” a life insurance policy for handloom and power loom weavers. To mark this year’s National Handloom Day, the chief minister of Telangana, K Chandrashekar Rao, launched the state government’s new insurance program and conveyed greetings to the weavers’ community.

According to an official announcement from the chief minister, it is a unique program launched especially for the benefit of the weavers in the nation, and over 80,000 families of weavers will profit from it. KTR said, “Telangana government is implementing various welfare schemes to uplift the weaver’s community in the state”. He added, “On the lines of Rythu Beema Scheme, the government is introducing the “Nethana Beema” scheme to provide financial support to the bereaved families of handloom and powerloom weavers. This scheme will be launched on National Handloom Day on August 7, 2022″.

It was also said that INR 5 lakh will be deposited into the nominees’ account in the event of the untimely death of a beneficiary (weaver) qualifying for the program. KCR stated that the State Government is already executing a number of initiatives for weavers, and that the launch of the new scheme demonstrates the government’s dedication to the welfare of its citizens.

KCR said, “The Telangana Govt every year is allocating a special budget (from BC Welfare) of Rs 1,200 Crores since 2016-17 to strengthen the handloom and powerloom sectors. This is in addition to the regular budget allocated to the Department of Handlooms and Textiles”. The Minister added, “The Telangana Govt has allocated Rs 55.12 Crores as a regular budget to Dept. of Handlooms and Textiles for the FY 2022-23. Another Rs 400 Crores were allocated for the welfare of the weaker sections”.

The announcement noted that KCR accused the central government for not supporting the state government’s efforts to promote the welfare of weavers, and instead, it was destroying the handloom and power loom industries by increasing taxes. The state government and Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) have signed an agreement for the launch of the scheme.
