Trade Malta has successfully concluded its 1st trade delegation to the United Kingdom (UK). Malta brought together a high-level delegation of Maltese businesses besides institutional stakeholders. It was for a strategic program across Liverpool and Wrexham, besides Cardiff, in promoting intra-Commonwealth trade.
The multi-city mission was designed to strengthen long-term collaboration between Malta & the UK. This was by fostering strategic partnerships that move beyond individual business opportunities. Also, in building stronger foundations for sustained cooperation in innovation, trade, and investment besides sector development.
Representing a broad cross-section of Malta’s economy, the delegation engaged with businesses, government representatives, chambers of commerce, and innovation hubs besides industry stakeholders. They were across a range of sectors that includes technology & digital innovation, advanced manufacturing & engineering, life sciences, and financial services besides hospitality & tourism.
Throughout the program, participants explored areas of mutual interests. They also identified opportunities for collaboration between Maltese and UK organizations. Each location offered a distinct perspective: Liverpool’s established innovation ecosystem, besides a strong position in maritime industries, advanced manufacturing, life sciences, and digital technology besides renewable energy; and Wrexham’s growing role as a fast-growing North Wales manufacturing & industrial hub. It leveraged its strategic location, skilled workforce, and competitive costs besides the government-backed investment zone. This was to attract trade and exports besides private investment and Cardiff’s strengths in life sciences, fintech, financial & professional services, and creative industries besides emerging technologies.
Commenting on the mission, Trade Malta CEO Tania Brown said that the objective of this business delegation was to strategically invest in building the commercial relationships that drive trade and investment besides long-term economic growth. They came away with stronger connections, a clearer understanding of mutual opportunities, and a shared commitment to turning dialogue into tangible business outcomes. The level of engagement and ambition, besides openness, from their UK partners has been exceptional. Also, reinforcing the significant potential for deeper collaboration between Malta and the UK during the years ahead.
