Will the Greek Gods be angry as discussions go on, to cancel or postpone the Olympic Games?

There is a large number in Japan that does not support the fact that the country is hosting the Olympic Games when the entire world is going through a pandemic. There is 70% of Japan that believes the Olympic Games should either be cancelled or at the very least postponed till the virus can be contained and it is safe to bring foreigners from other countries into Japan without putting the Japanese people at risk. With only 9 weeks to go for the games to begin a decision has to be made fast.

Japan is going through an infection spike as they have run out of hospital beds and medical staff to contain the corona virus. The country has a slow vaccination programme and only 4% of its current population has been inoculated with the corona virus vaccine. This brings about the question as whether countries who have had positive vaccine programmes would want to risk their athletes getting ill by coming to take part in the games.

The flip side of the coin would be athletes have dedicated their lives to the their sport and have waited for the opportunity to bring back medals to their countries or even to merely say that they were a part of the greatest games held in the world. Would it be unfair by them to cancel the Olympics or what sort of money would have been used to put together a stadium?

The Japanese felt however if they were to post pone it till the country could get a grip on the Covid situation that would be a reasonable request. But can japan take the hit on the money that already been spent on making sure an arena and a games village that is probably near completion.
