NIGERIA (Commonwealth Union) – It is that time of the year again where the Lagos Fashion week takes center stage at the fashion world. This is where the designers from Africa come and show us what African fashion is all about.

One of the main sponsors for the fashion week is Sunlight, which happens to be one top household brand that’s produced by Unilever Nigeria. The brand has come forward since of lately to empower all fashion entrepreneurs at the 2022 Lagos fashion week.

Oluwapelumi Kolade, who is the brand manager for Sunlight, was the one who made the brand come forward and bring about workshops on various aspects of the industry. Kolade further stated that this workshop was firstly to support the women in the industry and to give them a platform at the show to let them showcase their talents and to get their products out there.

Oladapo Oshuntoye, the Category Manager Homecare Unilever, made it very clear that all the people participating in these workshops should really make a point to take notes and pay attention. This will help them gain the knowledge they need along with the needed skills to make money. At the end of it all, they should be able to have a sustainable lifestyle along with a steady income because of the workshops.

Then we have Claire Idera, who conducted a masterclass at the workshop. She is a well-known visual artist as well as a highly qualified fashion educator. She said that her class was all about how the entrepreneurs need to bring in discipline to their certainty. She further stated that this was one of the most important things they had to learn. This lesson would help them succeed in their work.

Sunlight has made it very clear that as a brand, they would happily carryout this initiative at future Lagos Fashion Weeks so that new generations of women get the same opportunities in the industry.
