INDIA (Commonwealth Union) – India has always been very fashion forward when it comes to their culture as well as incorporating their culture into more modern and European fashion. However, the thing about fashion is something can go in and out of style overnight. Which mean a skirt you buy today because its trending will possibly be old news by tomorrow morning.

Unlike now, back in the day, fashion trends did not move so fast. Which mean that clothes were better taken care of by the generations before us and certain clothes were not mass produced. For example, fast fashion is where they will bulk order 5000 tops whereas 50 years ago Dolce would make 50 tops. And in the recent past retro has been making a comeback.

However, that is not what we are talking about here. Today we come to the beautiful world of thrifting. Now to thrift is to ideally scope out clothing stores where you find beautiful one-of-a-kind pieces that have been pre-loved or pre-owned. The youth of India has taken thrifting very seriously.

The Gen Z of India have started the movement of sustainable fashion considering the above-mentioned mass production and trends going out of fashion overnight.

Young fashion influencers love to go to thrift stores and find pieces from the 80 nor 90s that are of great quality but also not so heavy on the pocket. These thrifted pieces are then styled and put online so that people can if interested fiend similar pieces at thrift stores closer to them. This is causing a thrifting wave in certain parts of India and its making people see that they too can own fashionable pieces without resorting to fast fashion or spending massive amounts.
