Top emitter pitching a billion dollar plan to global lenders

JOHANNESBURG (CU)_South Africa’s power utility Eskom is the largest greenhouse gas emitter in the African continent. Of the organisation’s electricity supply to the country, more than 90 per cent is generated by burning coal. Now, amid growing interest in slashing carbon emissions across the globe, the electricity supplier plans to adapt its operations in order to reach carbon neutrality by 2050.
