New Delhi, India (CU)_ In a major attempt to strengthen the healthcare system, the railways have connected all 695 hospitals and health centers with the Aayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) on a mission basis, which is a significant success in improving the health care services. By merging the Hospital Management Information System (HMIS) and the RailTel Corporation of India, one of the Ministry of Railways’ PSUs, in partnership with the National Health Authority, all hospitals and health centers have been integrated.

Following the successful integration of all 695 railway hospitals and health centers with the ABDM, the RailTel stated that the integration of Indian railways’ health wings will support around 80 lakhs railway employees, pensioners, and their family members, as well as allow the general public to take advantage of the healthcare services offered at the railway hospitals and health centers digitally without any interruption.

Before this integration system, RailTel Corporation of India had installed a Web-based multi-module HMIS in all of Railway’s 695 hospitals and health centers throughout the nation. Currently, both the systems, ABDM and the HMIS, have been successfully combined to support patients and health administrations. In addition, as part of the HMIS system, a mobile app known as HMIS Patient Mobile AAP was also developed for patients to easily and rapidly access information regarding their OPD records, doctors prescriptions, consultations, lab reports and others.

Puneet Chawala, the CMD of RailTel, released a statement, highlighting the benefits of the initiative. He said, “RailTel is committed to playing a major role in the digital transformational activities taking place in the country. The integration of all hospitals and health centers of railways with the ABDM will gradually ensure the reach of good health facilities to every citizen of this country.”
